Professor Christopher Alan Lewis is based at the Centre for Education Studies, University of Warwick (UK). He is also a Distinguished Visiting Professor at Bashkir State University (Ufa, Republic of Bashkortostan, Russia). He has held previous academic positions at Glyndwr University and the University of Ulster. He holds degrees in Psychology (BSc, MPhil, DPhil) and Education (MSc, MEd) from the University of Ulster (Northern Ireland), and Theology (MA) from Bangor University (Wales). He is a Chartered Psychologist (CPsychol), Chartered Health Psychologist (CPsychol (Health)), Chartered Scientist (CSci), and Associate Fellow (AFBPsS) of the British Psychological Society. He has published 243 peer-reviewed articles, 33 book chapters, 9 books, and 18 journal special issues (plus 2 in press). He is founding Co-Editor of the journal Mental Health, Religion & Culture since its inception in 1998. He is Consulting Editor of the Pakistan Journal of Social and Clinical Psychology and serves on the Editorial Board of the European Journal of Mental Health, the Journal of Psychiatry and Behaviour Therapy, the Bahria Journal of Professional Psychology, JASS, and the Journal of Beliefs and Values. He was formerly Editor of the Irish Journal of Psychology and formerly Consulting Editor of the Journal of Social Psychology. He has a H-index of 34 and 7077 citations.
His research interests are within the areas of Health, Clinical, and Developmental Psychology, typically from an Individual Differences perspective, and include: i) Psychology of peace, conflict, and violence (e.g., childhood bullying, dissociation; self-harm; trauma, aggression), ii) Psychology of religion (e.g., religion, mental health, and culture; psychometrics; beliefs and values; religious diversity), iii) Positive psychology, and iv) Psychometrics. Recent edited books include Assessment of mental, health and religion: The development and examination of psychometric measures (London: Routledge, 2018), Psychological type, religion and culture (London: Routledge, 2018), Ethnic and religious conflicts: Social-psychological analysis of the UK’s experience (Ufa: Bashkir State University, 2016), Aspects of terrorism and martyrdom: Dying for good, dying for God (Lewiston, NY: Edwin Mellen Press, 2013), and Ireland: Economic, political and social issues (Hauppauge, NY: Nova Science, 2013). A third edition of the book An introduction to psychological test and scales (London: Psychology Press, 2019) is currently in preparation.
